'Cocktail' is the only movie released July 13, 2012. It's a sort of triangular love comedy of two girls and one boy and perhaps that's why the name 'Cocktail'. The movie deals with the fun of being friends and later the emotional turmoil when they cross paths.Saif Ali Khan plays Gautam who flirts with rich Deepika Padukone playing Veronica. Model turned newcomer actress Diana Penty plays Meera as a victim of a hoax marriage with Randeep Hooda. When Meera arrives in the UK to meet her husband, the latter asks her to go back home as he runs a marriage bureau. She runs into Veronica who takes Meera under her wings and Meera begins to share the home space with Veronica and Saif. Deepika takes simpleton Meera into confidence and the three have good fun singing, dancing and living together. Meera doesn't care about Veronica and Gautam living together without any relationship commitment.

Gautam's mother played by Dimple Kapadia reaches UK accompanied by her brother played by Boman Irani. They've come to choose a bride for Gautam. Dimple takes Meera to be her would be daughter in law and offers her bangles. Scenario shifts to Gautam starting to love Meera. Coincidence brings Meera back together with her husband who now wants her to live with him. Meera has begun to love Gautam. But then Veronica now wants to settle down with Gautam. Finally, Veronica is ready to sacrifice her love for Meera. This is followed by huge bonding between the three roommates and friends.

Director Homi Adajania has returned with this romantic comedy after a long hiatus. Imtiaz Ali has very nicely crafted the script. There's a lot of fun and laughs in the first half. But the twists in the second half are a bit too unpalatable. The movie however culminates into a comedy. Like the script, the music is good too. Pritam's music, especially, 'tum hi ho bandhu', 'daaru desi', 'yaariyan' and 'jugni' are already a rage. Dialogues likes of 'I'm carrying his bun in my oven' and 'you're lonely-I'm characterless' are funny and witty but also risky.

The three lead actors perform just too well. Saif as usual proves his lover boy image. Deepika looks stunning and plays her best till date. Diana in her debut is excellent and can hope to get a line of directors and producers offering her roles. Randeep Hooda's role is too brief to completely utilize him. The movie isn't as loving a comedy as 'Jab We Met' or a 'Love Aaj Kal', but it indeed represents today's urban society.

'Cocktail' is a good entertainer, especially for the next generation.
