Friday December 9th, 2011 saw three Bollywood flicks making it to the silver screen in India. One of them ‘Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl,’ a rom-com by the same team that rocked with ‘Band, Bajaa, Baraat’. The lead pair of Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma does the magic as their on-screen chemistry speaks for itself. The movie marks a debut for Parineeti, Bollywood’s top actress Priyanka Chopra’s cousin.

In the film, Ranveer plays Casanova, the lead character of Ricky Bahl, a top con man inasmuch as he could run off with any woman using his extraordinary charm. In fact, he lives by cheating women. This is another matter that when he loots his victims they lose a lot – their hearts as well as money. But, only till he meets his equally weighty counterpart in Ishika Desai played by Anushka Sharma. The latter is indeed the right match for Ricky and plays the same on him. The tagline is important too; it reads ‘Ladies Beware! Ricky Bahl is coming.’ After all, Ranveer poses in the poster without a shirt and flaunts his six-pack abs. Wonder if the story is based on ‘John Tucker Must Die’, a hit of 2006.

Finally someone shot a Bollywood flick in India’s heartland – i.e. Lucknow. Ranveer as Ricky Bahl makes his move in true Lucknavi style on an innocent girl! He trails his next victim, Aditi Sharma, in a crowded market of Lucknow. And, he continues with his game plan ….

Yash Raj Films adds another feather to its hat in the tradition of producing such rom-coms. YRS icon Aditya Chopra is executive producer with Maneesh Sharma as director. The movie’s other cast includes Dipannita Sharma, Aditi Sharma and Parineeti Chopra. The music is excellent as it comes from the YRF camp’s most trusted music duo Salim-Suleiman who gave the film catchy tunes and a peppy dance number. Director Maneesh Sharma has ensured the movie oozes with all commercial elements and that youngsters admire it.

Missing such a huge entertainer will then only be your own loss!
