Mandira Bedi knows how to bowl us over for sure. The actress-turned-compere was in town to display the works of Satya Paul. The designing extravaganza was a part of a charity event associated with World Cup. The designed sarees would be auctioned at Ebay In, and the proceeds would go to promote Mouth and Foot Painting Artists. We caught the petite actress in a candid mood for the World Cup and spoke to her about her Fashionable Passion of life.

    Excerpts of her interview:

Do you think Satya Paul have pushed their creativity this time?

Certainly, I believe that Satya Paul has done a splendid job this time around especially as I know them to be a talented lot. Charity is one cause in which I have been involved for long. Incidentally, this time I have been helped by them. This cause is special as the proceeds would go for charity. The designs this time have taken me back as I feel this is their best work till date. It's also innovative and refreshing to see sarees such as they have presented.

How do you think the fashion industry has evolved since the time you have been associated with it?

    click for larger view
There has been a tremendous growth since the whole industry has evolved. Designers from across the globe have been eager to get associated with our fashion industry. Designers from India have been a part of so many international shows and have gained acceptance. I foresee even more growth potential in this industry. Hope that the world accepts us even more and continues to do so.

Are celebrities important for charity events?

    click for larger view
Celebrities are important to a certain extent but also one cannot deny that their face value adds a lot to any charity or auction. I also feel that if any good deed is being done the right kind of publicity is required and that's what we celebrities do, so it brings profit to one and all. Also by doing so, celebrities feel elated at such duos.

How many sarees do you boast of personally?

Personally, I boast of around 100 sarees but for the World Cup my designers would give me around 50 sarees and kurtis and tunics and many more. Let my wardrobe be a surprise and let it unfold with World Cup.

Who do you lay your bets on this time for the World Cup?

Honestly, a few days ago my favorite were Australia but now after her loses and Brett Lee out of the World Cup, I am not sure of any team; anything can happen.
