Actor Aamir Khan celebrates his birthday today. Born in a filmi family on Marh 14th in 1965 his father Tahir Hussain is a producer and Uncle Nasir Hussain and his cousin Mansoor Khan Film directors. Aamir started his career as a child artist in Bollywood with 'Yaadon Ki Baraat' (1973) and 'Madhosh' (1974), but got first role as an adult in Ketan Mehta's 'Holi' . Soon, he played the lead role in 'Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak'. His recent film 'Rang De Basanti' made waves around the world and was selected as India's official entry to the Oscars in the Best Foreign Language Film category. Later, his film 'Fanaa' became a great hit at the box office. At present, he is busy in the shooting of his home production 'Zameen Ke Sitaron' being directed by Amol Shetge of the 'Gunaah' fame.
Aamir is also blamed for his strained relations with the media and also for his interference in the producer's job. Aamir has denied both the allegations, though. Incidentally, Aamir isn't the actor to accept all endorsements like many of his colleagues. He is choosy; while the other stars take on any and every offer, he prefers to endorse those products that he truly believes in. He has endorsed Coca Cola, Toyota Innova and Titan. Incidentally, Aamir chose the Titan advertisement as his favorite where he shares the screen with veteran actress Zohra Sehgal who played his grand mother. And, the latest is his ad for coke.
Excerpts of his recent chat with the media:
Aren't your relations with the media always strained?
There is nothing like that though the media has been alleging like this. No, I have never had strained relations with the media in the past nor would I have in the future. In fact, I have very hectic schedule, so I don't get enough time to spend with the media.
It's alleged that you interfere a lot in producer's job?
I don't care about what the people say about me. I never poke my nose into the producer's work. However, I give suggestions as an artist on the creative aspect of the film, if needed. It is my right and I don't want to avail my rights.
What's your future plan?
'Taare Zameen Par' is my only release for 2007.
What's this all about?
It's a film about children and hence it is very close to my heart. The shooting is over and the post production is on. It should release in the latter half of this year.
What's your view ( Bhuvan of 'Lagaan' ) about Indian Cricket team in World Cup?
India will win the World Cup, and my message to the team is 'Go out there and show the world what we are made of. Give it your best shot.'
