Kunal Rawal, launched his very own fashion label ?D.stress?, Juhu, Mumbai.
Kunal Rawal, all of 20 years old, launched his very own fashion label ?D.stress? ? a mens designer wear label an attitude last evening amongst a lot of hype and fanfare. Armed with a certified qualification in fashion design from the London College of Fashion (LCF) and teemed further with an added specialization in merchandizing, this upcoming young entrepreneur is all set to redefine mens fashion with his keen aesthetic sense of styling.
Parents Ravi and Neeta Rawal played gracious hosts to the glam brigade who turned up if full force to support this fashion prodigy. Singer Vinod Rathod was the first to walk in, and sported an all black look followed by Preeti Hiranandani and her daughter. MTV VJ Ranvijay made a grand entry on his bike and made a style statement with his rugged jeans and blood red shoes. Joining him later was VJ Anusha, who came in dressed casually but made a diva style entry. Former Channel V VJ Yudi and Ranvijay helped each other choose shirts for themselves and made sure that they each bought a handful. Director producer Gaurang Doshi and model Amit Gaur kept to themselves while designer Manish Malhotra walked in his signature style with his LV bag and was seen giving encouraging feedback to the upcoming young designer. Men on the block Ritik Bhasin, Suved Lohia (both of Redlight and Squeeze fame) Rahul Dev, and Ashish Chowdhary looked dapper in summer gear from caps to glares, army shirts and were seen having a good time. The media shy Sunita Kapoor (Anil Kapoor?s wife) made a quiet entry and exit. Anil Kapoor was cynosure of all eyes as he walked in sporting a sky blue shirt and was seen checking out the funky interiors of the store. the latest sensation from the fashion industry Deepika Padukone walked in with boyfriend Nihar Pandya. Sanjay Kapoor with wife Maheep mingled with nephew Arjun and were later joined in by Boney Kapoor who made a quick stop at the store. others who made their presence felt were Manali Vengsarker with daughter Pallavi, Madhu Nair of Leela, Leetu Shivdasani, Mona Kapoor (ex wife of Boney Kapoor) and Antra Motiwala the model from the D.stress campaign. Pooja Shetty and Sikander Kher made a fashionably late entry. All in all it was an evening of young energy fusing with creative fashion where all de-stressed themselves as they shopped.
Shirts, jackets, ties, leather accessories and loads of attitude reflect a relaxed and chilled out zone where cotton, linens, jersey and a blend of fabrics in mute shades of whites, candy, lime, bottle green, sunset yellow, aubergine and of course black define a style statement. So while D.stress plays around with prints, badges, repair works and detailed twills; confident, fun and stylish is the mantra that this fashion label seeks to live with.
Says Kunal, ?Having being exposed to ? in- vogue? world styles since my early years, the fashion arena has given me the opportunity to match international styling and tailoring here. And with Mumbai being one of the most rocking cities in the world, the need to have enough fashionable clothes here inspired me to start D.stress, where the metrosexual and the retrosexual both find clothing to match their personalities.?
Its not surprising then, that this energetic creative studio reflects a warehouse with a melting potpourri of graffiti scribbled all over and with inspirations drawn largely from the European fashion world; particularly bold British styles, Dutch PrĂȘt and the Spanish way of mixing colours - the brand brings out a fresh yet a bold line of ready-to-wear mens collection.
Avant-garde, superstar-material and trendy styling with a casual twist translates D.stress`s new fashion of clothing and has been shot with an equally young and budding urbane role models from Sunny Sara, Riya Kapoor, Omar El-rufia and Antra Motiwala.
Kunal Rawal has worked with several international design houses in the past and has developed a heightened acumen within the fashion industry and now with his label D.stress launching in Mumbai, he is ready to introduce a line complete with tons of fun, spunk and attitude.
