What is your character in 'Sirf……'?
Doesn't it reflect your real life?
Yes, I am strong woman but Devika is not me completely. Some places I do connect to the character and that all about it. The film is about vacuum in people's life, how they would think that everybody else has much more than they have. I have never had that kind of misconception.
Didn't risk your career with a new director?
I have worked with Raajatesh during 'Lajja'. So technically I do know him. He is a very good and clear-cut director. He has very clear vision of what he wants. Although he had trained under Santoshi, still his style of filmmaking is very different. I think that 'Sirf……..' is closer to 'Life in a Metro' than any of films made by Santoshi. But because of his training and exposure Raajatesh has shown a lot of maturity in handling of the subject.
What would you say about other co-stars?
I have worked with Kay Kay, Parveen and Ranbir, in the past. While Kay Kay is extremely strong but subtle artiste Parveen is extremely expressive and casual about it. Ranvir is good. They all had their own style and each is very good but Kay Kay is brilliant. He can enact the most intense scene without doing any Nautanki and loud histrionics. We are in show business and face is our first impression.
Is your association with Yoga adding to your beauty?
I am associated with this wonderful place called 'Oneness University' in Chennai. That is a beautiful place and what I have learnt there, has made me into a seeker. All the questions are answered. I am happy that I have gone there.
Which are your forthcoming projects?
I am in touch with many makers for various international projects. I will choose with care. Then 'Chehra' is on the floors. In this film I play the role of a complete Diva. 'Sirf-life looks greener on the other side' is releasing on 25th April.
Since you have already acted and produced films, do you intend to enter into direction?
I do want to direct films. But right now priorities are different. May be in a year or two I will start direction too. But believe me, being an actor is the most blessed position because they are the most pampered lot.
Have you shifted to realistic cinema and quit song and dance routine?
'Sirf ……..' is very much mainstream cinema, with songs, comic situations and a popular storyline. It is a good entertainer. It is another thing that I have not done song dance routine in it.
What's your next choice ?
I enjoy traveling. I love Europe the most.
